News Center-TDO- “Romanian Culture Day” Event was organized by Romanian Embassy inTurkey and Ankara University at Ankara University Cebeci Campus ATAUM Conference Hall.
Romanian Ambassador to Turkey Gabriel Catalin Şopanda, Rector of Ankara University Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş, Director of ATAUM Doç. Dr.İlke Göçmen and many other guests attended to the event.
The event began with the live music performance of the Mix World Ensemble group.
In his opening speech, Ambassador Şopanda gave information about the relations between Romania and Turkey and Romania's EU term Presidency.
He said that Romania is the President of the Council at the time when the EU is in a politically critical period and that they will strive for the development of the Union with the vision of harmony and unity during the presidency period.
Mr. Ambassador also stated said it was a priority during the presidency of Romania that improving the relations EU and Turkey.
The ambassador also explained that bilateral relations in this context held on March 15th Turkey-EU Association Council meeting and as well as tackling the common problems of reforms to accelerate Turkey's accession process is an opportunity for evaluation.
Ambassador stated that it is important to evaluate in a transparent and timely cooperation of honest dialogue process, "All of them hope Turkey-EU relations will allow the beginning of a new phase." Mr. Ambassador also recalled that last year celebrated 140 years of the Turkey-Romania relations and the relations between Romania and the Ottoman Empire stressed that based on very old.
Mr. Ambassador expressed that Turkey and Romania are two strategic partners and Turkey is Romania's largest trading partner outside the European Union.
Rector of Ankara University Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş said that Ambassador Şopanda supported projects that contributed to cultural and intellectual life as a social and sensitive person besides strengthening bilateral relations.
Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş thanked Şopanda for his support and devotion in the field of education and expressed that Şopanda is not only an ambassador but also a friend of their own and a member of Ankara University. In this context, Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş presented the "Friendship and Merit Award" to Ambassador Şopanda for his contributions.
Diplomatic documents regarding the relations between Turkey and Romania are also exhibited within the scope of the event.
