İlknur Şebnem Öztemel – TDO – The Washington Post reported that during a 25-minute phone call held in last Saturday with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Trump accused Australia for trying to export the "next Boston bombers" under refugee resettlement agreement.
Previously, Donald Trump stated that the deal is ‘’dumb’’ and abruptly ended his call with Turnbull. He also told that it was the "worst call by far" he’d had with a foreign leader.
Representative Steny Hoyer, a Democrat in the House of Representatives, urged Trump to apologize while Republican Senator John McCain, chairman of the Armed Services Committee, said he called Australia's ambassador to USA in order to express his support.
Obama administration agreed to resettle about 1,250 asylum seekers in offshore processing camps on Pacific islands in Papua New Guinea and Nauru. In return, Australia would resettle refugees from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
