In Beijing, the government ordered halal food restaurants, kiosks, butchers and businesses to issue all Muslim symbols.
Visiting 11 restaurants in the capital Beijing, Reuters reporters said the authorities had told business owners to remove all text, images and symbols as soon as possible, including Arabic inscriptions on crescent, moon and plates.
A restaurant owner, who did not want to give his name, said in a statement on the issue that they were told by the government that symbols of Chinese culture should now be used.
