News Center -TDO-Britain's ambassador to Turkey, Dominick Chilcott, hosted a reception at the British Embassy in Ankara in consequence of the Queen of Great Britain Queen Elizabeth II's birthday,
Deputy Minister of National Education Reha Denemeç, Deputy Minister of Interior Muhterem İnce, Vice President of İYİ Parti Durmuş Yılmaz, Turkey's former Ambassador to London Abdurrahman Bilgiç and many other guests attended to the reception.
"Our esteemed Queen is 93 years old. Mashallah! She ascended the throne at the age of 25. This makes her the longest ruler in the history of Britain," Ambassador Dominick Chilcott said at the reception.
Ambassador Chilcott said that the first Turkish President that Queen Elizabeth II visited and met was İsmet İnönü. Mr. Ambassador also added that the bilateral relations between the UK and Turkey has made progress in recent years.
Ambassador Chilcott, said his country would continue to be a country that is also involved in international collaboration after Brexit and added, "The strong relations between the United Kingdom and Turkey will be in our favor."
Deputy Minister of Education Denemeç also celebrated the national day of the people and government of England in consequence of the Queen's birthday.
Queen Elizabeth II is a good example to the world with what she has done for the people, Denemeç said and added, “Rooted relations between Turkey and the UK relies almost 450 years. In 1583, Queen Elizabeth I appointed the first British Ambassador to Istanbul. In 1793, the Yusuf Agah Efendi was appointed to London as the first Ottoman Ambassador to Britain.”
Referring to the historical relations between the two countries Denemeç said, "Friendly and strategic partnership between these two countries attach great importance to relations."
Denemeç stressed that the main priorities in the bilateral relations are economy, counter-terrorism and defense co-operation fields, and that cooperation in the field of education is getting better day by day.
