Hassam Hameed-TDO-7.12.2107- Vladimir Putin announced this Wednesday that he will be running for president again. This announcement came while he speaking to the workers of car factory in Nizhny Novgorod. This announcement attracted praise as well as lots of criticism.
Either as a president or prime minister Mr. Putin has been in charge since 2000. And is considered to be widely popular among all demographics, having an approval rating of almost eighty percent. This election is expecting a very low turn out, as the poll of Levada Centre Pollster suggested only 58% of respondents might vote, which is well below 75% the last time poll was conducted in 2007. Putin has criticized it as the political campaign has not even begun yet. It is expected that the reason to allow glamorous TV presenter, Kseniya Sobchak, is to relight the excitement in the election.
Moreover, the main opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, is not eligible to run for elections. He is being found guilty of fraud, which he consider to be politically motivated case.
Some analysts say that Putin is trying to find himself a role in the system after 2024, so he will try to amend the constitution and still be influential, as he does not want to be witch hunted. Now world is curious how will his next presidential be and how Russia would turn out to be different after 2024, when he finishes his term.
