PHILIPPINES CANCELLED ITS ORDER FOR HELICOPTER PURCHASE DEAL WITH CANADA

Mustafa AY – TDO – 10.02.2018 President Rodrigo Duterte decreed its military chief of staff to cancel the helicopter purchase deal with Canada. The cancelled helicopter deal amounted to the worth of over 230 million dollars, which encompasses 16 ‘Bell 412’ helicopter to be benefitted in the military transportations and rescue missions. On account of that Canadian govt. expressed its concerns over if Philippines would transform originally unmanned helicopters into manned helicopters to be used against the rioters (DAESH and Communist fractions) within the country, President Duterte gave this order to his military officials. In the wake of his decision, President Duterte allusively expresses his respects to Canada for their irrational concerns. Duterte literally found Canada’s concerns irrational because whom Philippines has conducted fight against is DAESH, which is accepted as a global terrorist organization by all UN member countries, so plainly Canada as well. Therefore, President Duterte put an end on the helicopter deal with these remarks “we’ll look for other suppliers.”
