News Centre –TDO – Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Muhammed Syrus Sajjad Qazi and Air Forces Military Attaché Air Commodore Imran Asghar Chaudhry have hosted a reception at the Ankara Hilton Hotel to mark Pakistan's Defence Day.
Among the guests were Turkey’s Minister of National Defence Hulusi Akar, Chief of Staff General Yaşar Güler, Commander of the Army General Ümit Dündar, Commander of the Air Force General Hasan Küçükyüz and many members of foreign missions in Ankara, diplomats and journalists.
After the singing of the national anthems of the two country’s by a children’s choir, Ambassador Qazi delivered a speech and said "September 6th is a day dedicated to the memory of martyrs who made great sacrifices in defending their homeland and what their homeland meant for them.”
Qazi paid his respects to the martyrs of Çanakkale and of July 15th 2016 and ended his speech by saying “Long live the brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkey”.
Air Commodore Chaudry read out the messages Pakistani President Memnun Hussain and Prime Minister Imran Khan issued on the occasion of September 6th Pakistani Defence Day.
Minister Hulusi Akar said in his speech that Pakistan had a special place in the hearts of Turkish people and that the progress of Pakistan in the field of defence would continue to be a factor of stability for the country and its region.
Pointing out the historical friendship between the two countries, Akar said that cooperation at the highest level was having an effect in the military and many other fields.
Of the close historical relations between the two countries, Akar said “We will never forget the friendship between Turkey and Pakistan” and said that the Turkish people always recall it with respect and gratitude.
Akar ended his speech by saying “Long live Pakistan, log live Turkey” in Urdu.
The reception ended after the cutting of the cake with Turkish and Pakistani flags and offering of refreshments.
