PAKISTAN SCHOOL ATTACK: 141 PEOPLE KILLED 132 OF THEM CHILDREN





Pakistan has lived one of the bloodiest days of its history yesterday; Taliban gunmen stormed a military school in the northwestern city of Peshawar and killed almost 141 people most of them children.
The majority of the victims were children who were students in the military school, their agesup to only 16.
Chief military spokesman of Pakistan, General Asim Bajwa said that 132 students and 9 staff were killed along with 125 wounded.
Earlier reports indicated that there were between six to nine militants who attacked the school and all of them are assumed to be dead; however it is unknown whether they have blown themselves up or were killed by soldiers.
The attack was carried out by the Pakistani branch of Taliban, called Tehreek-e-Taleban which tries to overthrow the Pakistani government. Spokesman of the group Mohammad Khurasani claimed responsibility for the attack saying that this was a revenge for the killings of Taliban members at the hands of the Pakistani government.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the attack and rushed to Peshawar in order to show his support. Prime Minister Sharif also promised that the country would not be daunted by the violence and that the military would continue with an aggressive operation launched in June in the North Waziristan tribal area to rout militants. He added that Pakistan is standing united to ensure the deaths of children were not wasted.
The Prime Minister also announced an end to the moratorium on death penalty for the cases of terrorism.
The funeral of deceased students continued throughout Thursday.
