İlknur Şebenem Öztemel-TDO- It has been announced that Nigerian pilot who was supposed to bomb Boko Haram camps in eastern Nigeria, accidentally bombed the refugee camp in Rann. About 52 people were died, 200 wounded, including humanitarian workers.
Following the sad event, government officials called it as a ‘’regrettable operational mistake’’ and President Mohammed Buhari wrote on Twitter as; I received with regret news that the Air Force, working to mop up BH insurgents, accidentally bombed a civilian community in Rann, Borno State’’. Although Mr. Buhari claims that Boko Haram was about to be fully destroyed, terrorist organization continues its bomb attacks in various market places over the country.
Boko Haram was engendered in the beginning of 2000’s, by Mohammed Yousuf, in order to bring sharia rule to the country. It has started armed attacks in 2009 and killed 17,000 people until now. It had gained worldwide media attention after kidnapping 276 schoolgirls in 2014, to sell them into slavery. Around 50 of the girls escaped, while the rest remain missing. Recently, they attacked to Maiduguri University, killed 5 people, in Monday. Also, the group has begun to conduct terrorist attacks to neighboring states such as; Niger and Chad.
