NETHERLANDS IN THE STATE OF CYBERWAR WITH RUSSIA




Mustafa AY – TDO – 15.10.2018 On Sunday, Dutch Defence Minister Ank Bijleveld participated in an exclusive interview with NPO –one of notable public broadcaster of Netherlands- to enlighten Dutch society with regards to the ongoing dispute over alleged cyber intervention made by Russia. In the interview, Minister Bijleveld seriously underlined that they are in a state of cyberwar with Russia. Minister Bijleveld accused Russian Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of carrying out cyber-attack on International Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in Hague.  At the last week, Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russian Ambassador Alexander Vasilievich Shulgın for accounting for the cyber-attack reportedly. Summoning Russian ambassador to the Foreign Ministry in wake of cyber-attack on OPCW was interpreted as that Netherlands held Russian GRU accountable for the cyber-attack.
