İlknur Şebnem Öztemel- TDO- President Donald Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.
It is expected that leaders will debate about the war in Syria, the Iran nuclear file and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including Israel's settlement-building on occupied land and whether a Palestinian state’’. Also, it has been reported that New US ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, will not participate to the meeting.
White House spokesman, Sean Spicer, told "As the president has made clear, his administration will work to achieve comprehensive agreement that would end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict so that Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace and security".
As a friend of Israel, Trump led the rise of the expectations about the future of the Israel-Palestine issue that makes international community busy for a long time, to be solved in favour of the Jews. His plans to move the American Embassy to Israel to Jerusalem was the most significant proof of this.
Additionally, it has been reported that before Netanyahu-Trump meeting, Trump’s son-in-law and adviser , Jared Kushner, has forged ties with Israel's ambassador to Washington, Ron Dermer, a Netanyahu confidant, and has met with Arab diplomats. Kushner is another important figure in the issue as he brokers illegal Jewish settlements in Bet El and West Bank.
It seems, unlike Obama, American-Israel relations will be better in Trump’s term.
