MILITARY JUNTA RELIEVED SOME OF STATUTORY RESTRICTIONS ON POLITICAL PARTIES




Mustafa AY – TDO – 29.08.2018 Following coup d’état in Thailand on May 2014, military junta banned political parties from performing their functions in politics. On Tuesday, following meeting with top members of military junta, PM Prayut Chan-o-cha asserted that coup administration decided on relieving statutory constraints on political parties. Military junta will allow all political parties, which literally banned from politics, to perform their basic political functions such as arranging meeting within party, altering party regulations and appointing their members to election polls for general elections that is planned to be administered in the next year. However, political parties are still prohibited to organize mitting’s and election campaigns.
