MAYOR OF CARACAS ARRESTED

As February marks the anniversary of the months long protests against the president of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro, the mayor of Caracas- the country’s capital- Antonio Ledezma has been arrested with accusations of a coup attempt.
Camouflaged police officers raided into the mayor’s office and carried him away. President Maduro said that the opposition leader must answer for all his crimes against the country’s peace and security, according to the BBC. Soon after the arrest, the Human Rights Watch group called for the immediate release of Mr. Ledezma.
