News Center -TDO- India’s Ambassador to Turkey Sanjay hosted the “Mahatma Gandhi Conference” at India Embassy on the purpose of celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi.
Indian Ambassador to Turkey Sanjay Bhattacharyya, Chief Functionary of Gandhian Forum for Ethical Corporate Governance Shobhana Radhakrishna, foreign mission chiefs, local press members, students and other guests attended to the conference.
In his opening speech, Ambassador Bhattacharyya celebrated the 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi and said that the people of India described Gandhi as "the father of the nation".
Bhattacharyya said that Gandhi's policy was "empowering individuals", pointing out that Gandhi's ideas were kneaded with Indian culture and history.
Mr. Ambassador also said, “He strived for the total mobilization of the people of India in the struggle for liberation. He was a one-man army. He spent his entire life in his community and delivered his message. The message was to fight cruelty and injustice. Peace and harmony should also be maintained in this struggle. What Gandhi wanted to say throughout his life was 'Satyagraha', 'not resorting to violence.' Gandhi was also influenced by many people in India. Also Many people remember him not only as a 'considerable' one, but also as a name that needs to be learned.”
Chief Functionary of Gandhian Forum for Ethical Corporate Governance Shobhana Radhakrishna also made a speech themed “Leadership and Revolution of Gandhi” at the conference.
Radhakrishna stated that Gandhi's belief in the power lies in his belief and Gandhi's belief in God is the source of his power.
At the event, a short film entitled "My life is my message", which was about Gandhi's life and goals, was screened.
