Mustafa AY – TDO – 01.07.2018 Following Macedonia’s agreement with Greece on the matter of country’s name, Macedonia’s hopes for membership to NATO and EU revived. Because Greece impeded Macedonia’s attainment of membership to NATO and EU by using its veto right against Macedonia. However, the name agreement stipulates Greece not to use veto against Macedonia in both international organisation. So, Macedonia can attain the full membership to EU and NATO.
Eurpean leaders compromised to open accession talks with Macedonia and Albania towards the end of 2019 in case of that both candidate nations make the expected progress on the matters of judicial and anti-corruption reforms. If both nations fulfill EU’s expectations till 2019, EU will take both nations into evaluation. After EU find them convenient, EU will open official negotiations with Macedonia and Albania for full membership to EU.
