LATVIA’S CENTRAL BANK HEAD IS BEING DETAINED




Hassam Hameed-TDO-20.02.2018- Latvia’s central bank head Ilmars Rimsevics is suspecting to have been expecting a bribe of around 100,000 Euros, according to Latvia’s anti corruption agency. He has been arrested this Saturday.

Governor’s house and offices were searched as well, since his arrest took place. Bank has said that they are cooperation with anti corruption agency, and said that they do not tolerate any sort of corruption. Latvian Prime Minister has called for cabinet meeting as of yesterday and said that the governor did not any threat to country’s national interests. Bank also said that its operations would not be affected.

Anti corruption agency said that this investigation has nothing to do with the scandal involving other two banks.
