Serhat TUNAR -TDO- In the early general elections in Greece, which made an early election following the European Parliament elections, the main opposition center-right representative, New Democracy (ND), ranked first.
ND, led by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, received about forty percent of the vote, according to preliminary figures released by the Interior Ministry. Greek Prime Minister and Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) leader Alexis Tsipras won the second with thirty-one percent of the vote.
According to these results, Mitsotakis’ party, which will win an absolute majority by winning 158 seats in parliament, can come to power alone. Following the finalization of the election results, Alexis Tsipras called his rival Mitsotakis to congratulate him on his election victory.
The 51-year-old politician Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to swear by taking the prime minister's seat today.
