JOINT AIR DEFENSE DRILL BY USA, GERMANY AND GREECE IN GREECE




Mustafa AY – TDO – 05.11.2017 USA, Germany and Greece have been proceeding with their joint military drill named “Artemis Strike”, which was commenced in 31 October in ‘Chania’ NATO missile base located in Greece. According to Pentagon’s statement, throughout the military exercise, they will carry out missile-launching tests covering ‘Patriot’ air-defense systems and ‘Stinger’ (portable air-defense missile launcher).

In Artemis Strike Germany pioneered, Berlin commissioned over 350 soldiers as well as Pentagon’s over 200 soldiers to take place in the military exercise. According to Pentagon, the military exercise is aimed at preparing possible attack in the future by deterring potential enemies in the region. The US Ground Force’s 10th Air and Missile Defense Command and EU Allied Forces Command will take place in the drill with the aim of evaluating Artemis Strike. The air-defense based military drill will last to 9th of November.
