ISLAMABAD’S CALL FOR ARMY TO CEASE RELIGIOUS DEMONSTRATION

Mustafa AY – TDO – 26.11.2017 On November 25, Islamabad was subject to serious protests that led the clash between Pakistani security forces and religious activists. Police forces cannot alleviate the severity of the clashes which created chaos across Islamabad streets. Because of police forces’ inadequate strive for ending the chaos which covered burning police vehicles, damaged stores and 2 dead civilians, over 100 wounded civilians as well as at least 70 wounded member of security forces, Islamabad called army for formidable task of dispersing the angry crowd.

The reason of the protest in which roughly a thousand activist from Tehreek-e-Labaik, new hard-line orthodox Islamist party, took part in is that Minister in charge of Law Affairs blasphemed Islam. As a result of such accusation, approximately 1000 activist sealed off the main road to capital for two weeks and asked Islamabad administration to dismiss and arrest the minister. However, their serious demands on Islamabad prompted opposite, but appropriate reaction that turned into serious fight causing injured hundreds.
