Mustafa AY – TDO – 30.01.2018 On Monday session, the Iraqi Parliament convened to take a voting referring to “lifting sanctions over Kurdish banks in IKRG”. According to the result of voting, Iraqi Parliament decided to lift the sanctions over Kurdish banks. Iraqi Parliament imposed sanctions on the Kurdish banks with the aim of thwarting Kurdish banks’ financial support to Pesmerga who Iraqi Army combatted against in Kirkuk. In addition to this purpose, Iraq was aimed at regretting Kurdish people whose decisions over 90 percent were ‘yes’ in independence referendum. After voting, Iraqi MPs stated “sanctions fulfilled the purposes of Iraqi government”, which helps us draw a picture of IKBY’ administration’s view of Iraq’s solidarity right now. Besides enacting harsh banking monitors against Kurdish banks, Iraq also suspended incoming and outgoing flights to Kurdish cities like Erbil with an official ban before.
