INDIAN POLITICS WITNESSES CONTROVERSY OVER THE DEAL FOR PROCUREMENT OF JET FIGHTER




Mustafa AY – TDO – 13.10.2018 Narenda Modi Government in India has faced with bombardment of accusations that National Congress Party’s leader Rahul Gandhi made. Gandhi stated that the deal, which Indian Ministry of Defence signed for procurement of 36 Rafael aircrafts in exchange for $8,78 billion with French Dassault Aviation Corporation in 2016, is against India’s national interests. Gandhi continued with the accusations that Indian government recklessly acknowledged the inflated bid of French Dassault Co. for the sale of aircrafts during the negotiations. Besides this, Ghandi accused Modi Government of favouring India’s one of most prominent industry giant ‘Reliance Group’ and accordingly of creating unfair competition within Indian economy. In face of all accusations, Modi Government declined the accusations of any misconduct strictly. As a result of rising controversy in the parliament, Indian Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman moved to Paris to have an official meeting for the purpose of discussing the annoying matter with his French counterpart.
