IN THE WAKE OF SUICIDE OF CROATIAN WAR CRIMINAL SLOBODAN PRALJAK, OFFICIAL INQUIRY COMMENCED BY DUTCHES IN THE HAGUE




Mustafa AY – TDO –01.12.2017 Croatian ex-General Slobodan Praljak, who’s been proven to be as Croatian war criminal, suddenly committed suicide by swallowing poison in front of International Criminal Tribunal (ICT) during the trial going on. The happening occurred as exactly ICT reached the verdict of 20-year-imprisonment for Croatian ex-General. In the aftermath of the verdict, he initially denied the charges and ICT’s decision on 20-year-conviction, and then he suddenly swallowed the poison ready in his hands. Once he swallowed poison, the courtroom including in some judges stood up with shock and run for rescuing him, but apparently, they all failed since he died on the way of hospital.

Following this scandal in ICT’s courtroom, Dutch authorities commenced an inquiry to reveal who is responsible for giving poison to Praljak -convicted of systematic manslaughter and intentional persecution against men, women, elderly and children in Bosnia. A Dutch prosecutor, Marilyn Fikenscher made the statements pointing out that 72-year-old Praljak drank poison for sure. As a result of the first criminal examines, the poison carries the signs of chemical substances, said prosecutor. However, the autopsy on the body has not been carried out yet, he added.
