Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The historic Lukiskes Remand Prison, which has been used as a prison for 115 years in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, is going to be closed. With the transfer of already inmates to other prisons, the property rights of the 1115-year prison will be transferred to the state-run real estate bank.
The prison consists of six buildings, with the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, the National Library, the Supreme Court and the Lithuanian Parliament. Until recently, around 700 prisoners and convicts in the final situation of the building will be determined in the coming days.
Whether or not the prison will be sold or what it will be used for later years will be determined after a meeting by the authorities.
