Hassam Hameed-TDO-14.02.2018- UK charity organization Oxfam has faced strong criticism by Haiti’s President over the scandal disclosed by UK based newspaper. This incident was concealed by the authorities from public. Organization deputy chief has resigned over mishandling of whole situation.
Report of Times newspaper claimed that findings of investigation were concealed by organization authorities which claimed that senior aid workers paid to local sex workers. Among the personnel involved included local national director of the organization. Reason for such criticism is that supposedly helpers took advantage of vulnerability of the locals.
Haiti President Jovenel Moise said "There is nothing more outrageous and dishonest than a sexual predator who uses his position as part of the humanitarian response to a natural disaster to exploit needy people in their moment of greatest vulnerability".
Oxfam denies any cover-up took place but confirmed that misconduct did happened and as a result many were dismissed from their positions.
