Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Carola Rackete, the captain of the Sea Watch 3, which has been waiting at the sea for more than two weeks with the immigrants being rescued in the Mediterranean and approaching the port on Lampedusa Island in the south of Italy, was arrested by the Italian police.
The Dutch Sea-Watch 3, , which belongs to the German Sea-Watch association, was held at sea for about two weeks, with about 40 migrants rescued. German captain Carola Rackete, who was waiting to get permission to dock from Italy or any European Union country, decided to approach Lampedusa Island in the south of Italy but was blocked by Italian ships. Following these developments, the 31-year-old German captain decided to dock at the port on Sunday morning (today) and anchored at the port with intense security.
Carola Rackete, who will be tried for “resisting the warship ”, is sentenced to up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
