Mustafa AY – TDO – 20.01.2018 French President Emanuel Macron promised to boost the defense budget at the forthcoming years so that France can maintain the domestic security and retain its military power abroad. While addressing French Legions aboard the aircraft carrier Dixmude, Macron emphasized the importance of French military’s deterrence and reciprocity against any terrorist action in and out of France. He particularly underlined that one of the main duty undertaken by himself is to preserve French society. Therefore, he stressed the gravity of a powerful army that is able to handle and annihilate any imminent threat to France.
He promised to allocate 1.8 billion Euro much more to defense budget which boost the total military spending to 34.2 billion Euro. However, increasing military spending directly means increasing taxation policy that would give no incentives to the foreign investors. However, Macron underscored that French army has been exposed to erosion because of the decreasing military budget. That’s why, Macron’s regulation over the military budget can be regarded as a compulsory move to invigorate French army more effectively.
