İlknur Şebnem Öztemel – TDO-Today, the fourth round of Geneva Talks has been started. UN special envoy to Syria, Staffan De Mistura, willmeet with representatives of Assad regime and the opposition.
Initially, he met with the group, ledby Regime’s permanent ambassador to UN, Bashar al-Ja’afarı, in Headquarters.
Secondly, he has met with representatives of oppositionNasır Hariri, Deputy Chairman of High Negotiation Council, Yahya Kadamani and the Chief Negotiator, Muhammed Sabra.
Also, representatives from USA, Russia, Iran and Turkey, members of International Support Group, will join the event.
It has been expected that Turkey will be represented by a group in the leadership of SedatÖnal, undersecretaryof Foreign Affairs Ministry, responsible from Middle East politics and his team of negotiators.
USA, will be impersonated by its special envoy to Syria, Michael Ratney and Russia will be represented by permanent Russian ambassador to UN, Aleksei Borodavkin.
Moreover, it has been alleged that Director of MENA desk in Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Vershinin, will attend to the conference too.
Yesterday, De Mistura underlined the significance of UNSC resolution 2254 that orders speeding negations up, organizing an interim government, making a new constitution and conducting an election in 12 months. He said it will be the framework of Geneva Talks.
