FORMER S. KOREAN PRESIDENT SENTENCED TO IMPRISONMENT




Mustafa AY – TDO – 06.10.2018 On Friday, former Korean President Lee Myung-bak has been convicted of indictments of corruption, bribery and abuse of power by Seoul Court. According to court’s ruling, he was condemned to 15-year imprisonment. As well as to be jailed, Myung-bak also faced with enormous amount of fine -$11,5 million- to be paid. In face of the court’s final decision, ex-President Myung-bak denied the accusations by claiming that all the charges are politically motivated.

In addition to Myung-bak, three more former presidents were jailed over accusations of corruption, bribery and abuse of power. Park Geun-hye –one of ex-Presidents- was sentenced to 33-year imprisonment over the indictments of abuse of power and coercion by Seoul Court.
