Spain’s Ambassador to Turkey Juan Gonzales-Barba has hosted a reception at the Ankara Sheraton Hotel to mark Spain’s national day.
The reception was attended by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Faruk Kaymakçı, Deputy Minister for National Education Reha Denemeç, Deputy Minister for Culture and Tourism Nadir Alpaslan as well as many representatives of foreign missions, diplomats and journalists and began with the singing of the national anthems of Spain and Turkey.
In his speech, Spanish Ambassador Juan Gonzales-Barba said that Turkey was Spain’s strategic partner.
Stating “Turkey is Spain’s foremost trade partner among non-members of the European Union”, Gonzalez-Barba added that Spain had honorary consuls in Nevşehir, Konya, Antalya, Izmir and Hatay.
Ambassador Gonzalez-Barba, who has been recently appointed to Ankara and has not yet delivered his letter of credentials conveyed the regards of Spain and Spanish society to President Recept Tayyip Erdoğan.
The reception ended with refreshments.
