EU REACTS TO NETANYAHU'S COMMITMENT TO ANNEX

Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The European Union reacted harshly to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's promise to annex illegally settled Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement made by the European Union Commission's Spokesperson, the European Union, unless the parties agreed, it will not recognize any changes before the 1967 borders, including Jerusalem said.

The statement also stated that the Israeli government's all settlement activities are contrary to international law and that every step taken against the law is detrimental to two-state solution and lasting peace.

Netanyahu, at a press conference before the early elections on September 17, re-election, "in a short time" in the West Bank Jordan Valley in coordination with the US administration, "the annexation of Israel," he said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a similar promise if he won the election before the April 9 general elections.

US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman also supported Netanyahu, arguing that Israel has the right to annex parts of the West Bank.
