EU COUNCIL ANNOUNCES EXTENSION OF ANTI-RUSSIAN SANCTIONS




Mustafa AY – TDO – 14.09.2018 EU Council has proclaimed that they will extend sanction against Russia for 6 months more, from 15th of September to 15th of March, 2019. In accordance with official statement by EU Council Press Office, EU has decided to renew the sanctions against Russia on account of Moscow’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea and Ukrainian Army’s armed conflict with Pro-Russian insurgents in the eastern territories of Ukraine – specifically in and around Donetsk mostly-.

With regards to the issue, EU Council Press Office specifically stated “for the reason of that Ukraine’s territorial integrity, independence and sovereign has been undermined by particular foreign intervention, extension of sanctions against Russia has been imposed to persist till 15th of next March.” Within the scope of anti-Russian sanctions, EU’s targeted 44 Russian institutions and 155 Russian citizens whose occupations are varying from high-ranking military officers, bureaucrats and businessmen.
