EMMERSON MNANGAGWA RETURNS TO ZIMBABWE




Hassam Hameed-TDO-23.11.2017- Former vice-president returned on Monday. He will be sworn in as the new president this Friday. Mnangagwa dismissal led the military to intervene and Robert Mugabe’s resignation from his presidency.

Mugabe’s resignation came in a shock announcement to parliament, which halted the impeachment against him. Mr. Mugabe is willingly allowing peaceful transfer of authority. "My decision to resign is voluntary," Mugabe wrote in his resignation letter. Mr. Mnangagwa is expected to take over office for the remainder term of Mugabe’s presidency, which is until September 2018.

The announcement has sparked wild celebrations across the country, which went till late night on Tuesday. Opposition and ruling party lawmakers roared in glee when the announcement was read in Parliament.
