News Centre – TDO- Ecuador’s Ambassador to Turkey Roberto Betancourt has hosted an opening ceremony for the painting exhibition The Anthology of the Andes by Ecuadorian artist Jose Bastidas at the Culture and Congress Centre of Middle East Technical University.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by Ministry of Foreign Affairs General Director of the America Office Ambassador İnan Özyıldız, Rector of METU Prof Dr Mustafa Verşan Kök, ambassadors of Latin American countries and many other guests.
Delivering the opening speech, Ambassador Betancourt said “José Bastidas’ work shows us that he is an artist very interested in colour and beauty. He conveys to us elements of expression that allow us to see how the views, trees, rivers and paths unique to the monumental and rich environment of the Andes Mountains shine in their own light.
“Bastidas conveys to us native and at the same time legendary messages.”
José Bastidas has held numerous solo and joint exhibitions in different countries and has won many awards in Ecuador and around the world. One of the most significant of these awards is the Vicente Rocafuerte Prize, which was awarded to the artist in 2017 by the National Assembly of Equator.
The ambassador said “As the presence of these works of art here once more confirms the friendliness and cultural cooperation between Equator and Turkey, I thank officials who made efforts.”
The exhibition can be visited at METU Culture and Congress Centre until November 23rd.
