Hassam Hameed-TDO-16.02.2018- A day after Jacob Zuma resignation Cyril Ramaphosa has become the new President of the country. He was the only nominated person in the parliament. He said in his speech, that tackling corruption would be his priority.
His party, African National Congress, dominates in the parliament and easily elected him as the new President. Previous President will have to face a number of corruption cases. Mr. Zuma has been denying them. One of the most prominent allegation is linked to Gupta family, who have been accused of “state capture” due to their involvement in state affairs. Elite police raided their properties this Wednesday.
New President told the parliament corruption “on our radar screen”. One of the opposition party walked out as they are demanding new elections.
