Hassam Hameed-TDO-26.02.2018- Communist party has proposed to remove the current law which limits presidency to two five terms. President Xi Jinping is suspected of extending his term in power. Some have welcomed it as a needed move for China. Mr. Xi is considered to be the strongest leader after Mao Zedong.
State news agency Xinhua reported "The Communist Party of China Central Committee proposed to remove the expression that the President and Vice-President of the People's Republic of China 'shall serve no more than two consecutive terms' from the country's Constitution". Full proposal is expected to be released later.
This proposal will be put in front of legislators on 5th of March at the full session of People’s Congress. Mr. Xi is considered to be the strongest leader after Mao, whose ideology is enshrined in Country’s constitution. Also his term has seen great improvements in economic reforms as well as a strong action against corruption.
