CHINA ‘ORDERED’’ INDIA TO WITHDRAW ITS TROOPS FROM DISPUTED BORDER

İlknur Şebnem Öztemel-TDO-25.07.2017- Chinese officers told India not 'to push your luck' and pull back troops from Doklam plateau, located in Himalayas.

According to Indian officials, approximately 300 soldiers from either side face each other about 150 metres apart on the Doklam plateau which is also claimed by Bhutan.

Colonel Wu Qian, a Chinese defence ministry spokesman, argued India must not underestimate Beijing's determination to safeguard what it considers sovereign territory belonging to its territory. He said "China's determination and resolve to safeguard national security and sovereignty is unshakable”. He added "Here is a wish to remind India, do not push your luck and cling to any fantasies".

Indian Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj asserted that the border road has serious security implications. Previously, he said "If China unilaterally changes the status quo of the tri-junction, it becomes a matter of security concern for India".

The crisis is expected to be discussed during Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval’s  visit to  Beijing in his week for a security forum under the BRICS group of large developing nations that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Problem occured because of raising numbers of troops started working for the construction of a road on to the plauteu. China and India share a 3,500km frontier which is mostly disputed. Even two nuclear powers had a bloody war in 1962 about the subject.

Ongoing events in the South East is very threatening if we take North Korean issue and the dispute in the reserve rich South China Sea, in to the account. It seems, after a final settlement done in Middle East, World’s death map would be centered in this area.
