Hassam Hameed-TDO-05.02.2018- Pentagon’s new ambitions regarding nuclear missiles is considered as a sign of hostility by China, Russia and Iran. They have expressed concern for acting against international non-proliferation treaty. US consider this move as necessary to counter threat from outside and argues upgradation as necessary.
"The country that owns the world's largest nuclear arsenal, should take the initiative to follow the trend instead of going against it" said Chinese defence ministry. China also stated that US concerns over China’s nuclear ambitions as ‘wild guesses’. US is planning to develop low-yield bombs and return to develop sea-based nuclear missile capabilities. Russia has already warned that it would take necessary steps to maintain its deterrent status. Russian foreign ministry said "From first reading, the confrontational and anti-Russian character of this document leaps out at you" referring to Nuclear Posture Review(NPR) document released by Pentagon this Friday.
Chinese defence ministry spokesperson said China "always abides by the principle of no first use of nuclear weapons under any circumstances".
