CENTRAL ASIA FROM THE EYES OF RUSSIAN TRAVELERS




News Center  -TDO-  The introductory meeting of the book titled “Central Asia from the Eyes of Russian Travelers” written by Prof. Dr. Alexandr Kolesnikov was held at Ankara Nazım Hikmet and Alexander Pushkin art center.

Russia’s Ambassador to Turkey Aleksey Yerhov, Prof. Dr. Alexandr Kolesnikov and other guests attended to the meeting.

Russian researchers’ and travelers’ journeys to Central Asia have played an important role in the culture, history and development of the region. Much of this research was pioneered by the Russian Geographical Society, which was founded in 1845 and is currently chaired by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.

This society has works through the Tsarist period to Soviet period. The main subject of the book is the studies of Russian researchers and travelers about the magnificent geography which can be called the Osh Region, such as the Regiment and the mountains of the east of Fergana, which is located in the middle of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
