CELEBRATING ROMANIA’S 100th GREAT UNION DAY




News Centre –TDO- Romania’s Ambassador to Turkey Gabriel Catalin Şopanda and his spouse Lavinia Ochea have hosted a reception at the Ankara Sheraton Hotel to mark the centenary of Romania’s Great Union.

Romania’s most prominent national celebration, the Great Union Day was celebrated with aplomb in Ankara.

December 1st, the day on which Romania merged with Transylvania after the First World War, is marked with ceremonies across Romania.

The reception was attended by Minister for Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli, ambassadors, military attachés, heads of foreign missions and other guests.

Following speeches by Ambassador Gabriel Şopanda and Minister Pakdemirli, Ambassador Gabriel Şopanda presented the Merit Award to persons who have contributed to the strengthening of political and diplomatic ties between Turkey and Romania.

Romanian dishes and delicacies were offered to the guests at the reception.
