CAROLA RAKETE: I REGRET TO RAM THE POLICE BOAT




Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The German captain Carola Rakete, who was anchored to Italy's Lampedusa Island and was arrested after landing ashore with the refugees she rescued in the Mediterranean, said she regretted that she had rammed the police boat.

Rakete's attorney Alessandro Gamberini, the captain of the Sea-Watch 3, said the captain had shut down the engines as soon as she approached the police boat as hse approached Lampedusa after rescuing close to forty refugees in international waters. Lawyer Gamberini added that Carola Rakete is very upset that it has caused such an event.

Italian security forces boats tried to prevent the Sea-Watch 3 from approaching the harbor, while a boat was stuck between the ship and the pier, but there was no loss of life or property.
