Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Sea-Watch 3 captain German Carola Rackete, who was anchored to Lampedusa Island and arrested as soon as she landed, was released by the court, despite the fact that Italy's Lampedusa Island was not allowed with the immigrants she rescued in the Mediterranean. The court also announced that it has abolished house arrest against Rackete.
Carola Rackete, a 31-year-old German citizen, had been held at sea for more than two weeks with a rescue ship belonging to the Sea-Watch association, with nearly 40 immigrants and her request to anchor toLampeduse Island was rejected by the Italian security forces.
The German captain, who was anchored on Lampedusa Island with security forces last Saturday, was detained on charges of resisting the battleship. Rackete stated in his trial that it was a conscientious responsibility to help immigrants in the Mediterranean who were not as lucky as she was.
