BRITAIN TO TAKE PART IN EUROPEAN INTERVENTION FORCE




Mustafa AY – TDO – 26.06.2018 On Monday, France embarked on a European Intervention Force into which Britain as non-EU member state also will be incorporated reportedly. By the virtue of this defense plan, France tries to maintain Britain’s affinity with EU even if Britain officially completes its abandonment from EU. Another purpose of this military defense initiative is to reduce EU’s military dependecy on US-guided NATO on the matter of Europe’s defense. Besides France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Estonia, Portugal and Britain take part in this Eurepean defense bloc for now. With regards to establishment of EU Intervention Force, NATO Secretary Jens Stoltenberg appreciated France’s efforts. Stoltenberg emphasized the fact that European Intervention Force would most likely assist European member states’ national armies modernize.
