BRAZIL’S DAM DISASTER




Serhat TUNAR -TDO-In the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, the number of those who died as a result of the collapse of the mine waste dam rose to 218.

Minas Gerais Civil Defense Agency said that the number of people who lost their lives as a result of the collapse of the waste dam in the city of Brumadinho rose to 218. Search and rescue activities continue for the finding the lost 78 people.

After the disaster caused 13 million cubic meters of waste, the Brazilian government wanted to inspect all dams in the country. About 3,000 people were evacuated in Brumadinho due to the collapse of the mine waste dam. Mining company Vale SA, will give 100 thousand Real (26 thousand 400 dollars) to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the disaster.
