This day also inspires the present members of the Armed Forces to protect the independence of Bangladesh and support global peace.

Allow me to emphasise the importance of this day which will forever leave a mark in the hearts of the Bengali people and member of the Bangladeshi Armed Forces. Following 23 years of uninterrupted struggle for freedom between 1948 and 1971, with the great call of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 26th 1971, a war of independence began against occupying forces.  The Bengali people and armed forces fought for their independence for nine months.

In the next phase of the wat, on November 21st 1971, the Freedom Forces of Bangladesh that consisted of army, navy and air forces began a final united offensive. The simultaneous actions by the army, navy and air forces, added the final momentum for the end of the War of Independence.  Finally, on December 16th 1971, we achieved victory and the independence of Bangladesh.”

Ambassador Allama Siddiki, thanked all the guests for attending the reception and said “The armed forces are one of the most important elements in any independent country. The Bangladesh Armed Forces, which was reborn from their ashes, are our most cherished institution.

A bright future awaits Bangladesh in every field, including the social and economic fields. The Armed Forces are developing and progressing along the same lines. Bangladesh’s foreign policy is built on peace. Our policy is to be friends with everyone.”

Commander of the Air Forces General Hasan Küçükakyüz, congratulated Bangladesh on the occasion of its Armed Forces Day.
