ATHENS' FIRST MOSQUE TO BE OPENED FOR WORSHIP

Serhat TUNAR -TDO-The first mosque, built in the Greek capital of Athens, was opened with the visit of Greek Education and Religious Affairs Minister Kostas Gavroglu. Gavroglu, the first prayer in the mosque in September, predicted to be made, he said.

Gavroglu visited Athens Mosque, which was completed but not opened for worship for bureaucratic reasons, and met with representatives of the Muslim community in the city.

After the visit, the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs made statements to the members of the press, underlining that the mosque was built entirely by the Greek state and that Greece has a place of worship for its citizens, immigrants and Muslim visitors.

Stating that the right to belief is a fundamental right, such as education and health, Kostas Gavroglu added that far-right people narrow the horizon of citizens.
