ARMY RECEIVES ORDERS BY MALDIVIAN GOVERNMENT TO NOT COMPLY WITH SUPREME COURT

Hassam Hameed-TDO-05.02.2018- Current Maldives President Abdulla Yameen has ordered police and army to not act upon Supreme court’s ruling to impeach him. Supreme court believes cases against ex-president to be politically motivated and detaining of opposition MP’s as unlawful.

Country’s attorney general said that complying with court decision to arrest the president would be unconstitutional, and had to do a press conference with country’s defence minister and police Commissioner who replaced the one who was going to comply with court’s ruling.

Rumour is that president might not be eligible to remain in power after court’s ruling.
