AN OVERVIEW OF COLD WAR GEOPOLITICS

Between 1948-1991 the world experienced a bipolar process. This was the period of the Cold War between the USA and the USSR. The Cold War began in 1948 when the Soviets blockaded Berlin and ended in 1991 with the disintegration on the USSR. Many developments affecting the global geostrategic structure occurred during the Cold War period. These may be listed chronologically as the founding of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO – 1949), the Korean War (1950-53), the establishment of the Warsaw Pact (1955), the Cuban Missile Crisis (1962) and the Vietnam War (1965-75).Dr. Cenk SEVÝMAuthor of the book Global Energy Strategies and GeopoliticsYou can read the rest of the article on our issue of April
