AMUL-KHAZAR 2018 INTERNATIONAL AUTO RALLY TO BE HELD IN TURKMENISTAN




News Centre – TDO – Turkmenistan’s Embassy in Turkey has held a press conference at the Swissotel in Ankara.

It was announced that the Amul-Khazar 2018 International Automobile Rally will be held in Turkmenistan on September 11th-15th 2018. In the statement released, it was said that high level preparations are underway in Turkmenistan for the international competition.

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador in Ankara Ishankuli Amanliyev said the following in a speech:

“Speaking of motor sports, it needs to be said that an Automobile Sports Centre was opened in Ashgabat in 2013, through the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan. This centre has contributed to the development of motor sports in Turkmenistan. In recent years, representatives of Turkmenistan in motor sports have performed well in competitions held domestically and abroad.

“We should also say that Turkmenistan has experience in the field of hosting motor sports organisations. The Silk Road – 2009 rally was held in Turkmenistan in 2009 through the initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan. This competition took place on a course running through Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Russia. It took place on a course of 4500 kilometres from the city of Kazan to Ashgabat. 2,100 kilometres of the course took place in Turkmenistan. The rally involved more than 50 heavy and more than 100 light vehicles from 30 countries.

“The hosting of a new auto rally through the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan contributes to the development of international cooperation in the field of sports. The hosting of this sporting events becomes even more significant given that 2018 was declared the year of Turkmenistan – The Heart of the Great Silk Road.

“The Amul-Khazar 2018 International Auto Rally, that is the Turkmen Desert Rally will be held over a course running over the part of the Great Silk Way that is in Turkmenistan. The international competition, which is open to trucks, sedans and SSV class vehicles, is expected to attract motor sports groups from nearly 40 countries.

“The main course of the rally will run from Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz region and the city of Ashgabat, then on to the Balkan region, where it will end at the Avaza tourism region on the shore of the Caspian Sea. A significant part of the course runs over the Karakum Desert. The total course of the Amul-Khazar 2018 Auto Rally is 1566 kilometres, of which 1158 kilometres is the competition course. 408 kilometres of it is made up by roads that are not a part of the competition.

“On every rest stop along the course there will be food halls for 3,000 people and food that meets the requirements of competitors will be prepared. The rest stops will also contain press centres, health centres, performance areas for artists, exhibition zones, Ak Ev tents and helicopter landing areas.  For the vehicles in the competition, high quality fuel and engine oil will be provided.

“More than 200 volunteers will be employed to meet and guide participants, prepare their documents and attend to their needs.

“Fire safety will be ensured by mobile fire brigades. At technical service centres along the competition course, emergency vehicles will be on duty.

“Turkmenistan’s State Customs Administration and State Migration Administration will be at the service of competitors and other participants from abroad and will attend to all their customs and visa needs.   Participants and organisers for the auto rally will be transported by Turkmenistan Airlines aircraft.

“The main aim of the Amul-Khazar 2018 Desert Auto Rally, or the International Auto Rally is to publicise the heritage of Great Silk Road and Turkmenistan’s national historical and cultural values around the Silk Road to great masses."
