ALGERIAN PRESIDENT ISSUES TRAVEL BAN ON IMPORTANT POLITICAL AND MILITARY FIGURES

Adel Tayari -TDO- (TUNISIA) Algerian security sources revealed that Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has issued a decree banning 20 important Algerian personalities from traveling outside Algeria for reasons not identified. The decision to ban travel included former Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sallal, who ended his duties a month ago and was replaced by Abdelmajid Tabboun and Minister of Industry and Mines Abdel Salam Bouchouareb, 10 former ministers whose names were not disclosed and 8 senior military figures in Algeria with the rank of "General".

What was even more surprising in the presidential decision was the presence of former Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Salal on the travel ban list who was until the date of his dismissal from office at the head of the Algerian government a month ago Has the confidence of President Bouteflika, and no Algerian Prime Minister under President Bouteflika enjoyed the same privileges and privileges as Abdelmalek Sallal.  So that many of the observers for the Algerian situation considered that Sallal was the Algerian president since the illness of Abdelaziz Bouteflika in 2013 and until 2017 the date of termination of his duties.

After the announcement of the results of the legislative elections in Algeria on 4 May all the data indicated that the Algerian president would renew confidence in Abdelmalek Sallal and entrust him with running the new government, but at the last moment, all the data changed through the announcement of the termination of the tasks of Abdul Malik Sallal and the appointment of Abdul Majid Taboon as his successor.

According to some sources, the reason for the removal of  Sallal from the head of the Algerian government and then a decision to prevent him from traveling outside Algeria by order of the Algerian president  it was because of the great ambitions of Sallal  to be the next Algerian president, as those around President Bouteflika saw that the former prime minister was too powerful  and has become a major threat to the so-called in Algeria, "governance group"  if he is running for president in 2019, especially that Abdelmalek Sallal has a reasonable popular acceptance that could help him win the election. Others also say that Abdelmalek Sallal was involved in a scandal of   the Algerian oil giant company "Sonatrak" with Italian company "Saipam” Where the great ties between the former Algerian prime minister and the Algerian mediator Ferid Bedjaoui, who is notorious for paying bribes to Algerian parties in the deals of the company "Saipam" Italian for oil projects in Algeria. The same sources also indicate that Abdelmalek Sallal is involved in more serious corruption cases related to the extension of the metro line Al-Badr-Harrach district, which was assigned to a company “a Colas Rail-Kougc” which is A French-Algerian company.

In another sign of the end of the excellent relationship between Bouteflika and Sallal the Algerian presidency has asked to amend proposals for appointments in several important positions to deprive those close to Abdelmalek Sallal of any important position in Algeria.
