News Centre –TDO- Albania’s Ambassador to Turkey Genti Gazheli has hosted a reception at the Ankara Sheraton Hotel to mark the occasion of the Albanian Flag and Independence Day.
The reception was attended by Minister for Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli, Chief of Staff General Yaşar Güler, Commander of the Army General Ümit Dündar, mission representatives, military attachés and guests.
The reception began with the playing of the national anthems of Albania and Turkey.
Delivering the opening address, Ambassador Gazheli said that mutual high level visits were proof of the perfect relations between Turkey and Albania and said “Turkey has always been advocate of the Albanian cause in the world. In addition to these perfect political relations, we aim to increase economic ties.
“Albania is a dependable and democratic partner in the region. These qualities lead the way for its fulfilment of European standards and for growth in every field. Our forebears, who made outstanding efforts for our country over the last 106 years, shine the way today.”
Minister Pakdemirli underlined the strong friendship based on a shared past between Turkey and Albania and said that human ties were the most current element that bind the two countries together.
Minister Pakdemirli said that the cultural, economic and political cooperation between the two countries was strengthening and added that Turkey supported the protection and restoration of the historical artefacts that carry the rich cultural heritage of Albania through various projects run by TIKA and the Yunus Emre Cultural Centre.
The program proceeded with regional dances from Albania, the cutting of the celebratory cake and refreshments.
